# Members

> Workspaces, invitations, roles and seats.

## Workspaces

A personal workspace is created for you on first sign-in. Shared workspaces are created deliberately,
through a wizard that collects the tier up front.

You can create up to five workspaces. There is no limit on how many you can **join**: memberships are
additive and independent, so joining a team workspace never spends your personal allowance, and leaving
one does not touch your own dashboards.

## Inviting people

Admins invite by email from **Settings → Members**.

A **viewer** invitation costs nothing. A **builder** invitation draws on paid seat inventory at the point
you send it, not when the person accepts, so you may be asked to add a seat first.

Pending invitations can be resent or revoked. There are daily caps on invitations sent and on emails to
any one address, so a mistyped address cannot be mailed repeatedly ([Limits](/reference/limits)).

Somebody who was previously a [guest](/sharing/permissions#guests) is promoted from the same roster with
**Make member**.

## Roles, seats and guests

Every member carries a role and a seat, and they answer different questions.

**Role — what they can administer**

| Role | |
| -------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `admin` | Manages members, billing, workspace settings and the theme, and holds owner-level access to dashboards and skills. Not to chats. |
| `member` | Everything else |

**Seat — whether they can author**

| Seat | |
| ------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| Builder | A Pro licence, billed to the workspace. Can build, and carries a full compute allowance. |
| Viewer | Free, unlimited in number. Can read, filter and ask questions. **Cannot author**, at any budget. |

The seat is a capability boundary rather than a spending limit. A viewer-seat member holding Editor
permission on a dashboard still cannot build on it, and granting them budget does not change that. See
[Permissions](/sharing/permissions#viewer-seats-cannot-author).

**Guests** are outside people holding only what was shared with them, always read-only. They occupy no
seat.

## What members see

The roster is visible to every member of a shared workspace, not just admins, because it is where a
member goes to find out who can grant them something. Non-admins see it read-only.

Admins additionally see each member's usage and can set per-member spend limits from the same place. See
[Usage](/billing/usage).

## Audit log

Administrative changes are recorded: role and seat changes, invitations, limit changes, ownership
reassignment.

There is no audit view in Settings today. The log is read through the `list_audit_log` tool from a
connected agent. See [Workspace administration](/mcp-tools/administration).

## Enterprise identity

On the Enterprise tier, **Settings → General** also holds single sign-on, directory provisioning,
domain verification, and your own model-provider keys. The tab is visible on every plan with the gated
rows marked, so what the plan buys stays legible.
